What Hotel Rate Finder Does

Hotel Rate Finder is a browser extension that compares corporate and negotiated hotel rates. It scans rate codes on hotel booking websites to help business travelers find the best available prices. All processing happens entirely within your browser.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

• No accounts required — the extension works without registration.
• No tracking — no analytics, cookies, or telemetry are used by the extension.
• No external servers — we do not operate any backend servers. All data stays in your browser.
• No data sold or transferred — user data is never shared with third parties.

Data Stored Locally

The extension uses Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to save:

• Your configured list of corporate rate codes
• Extension settings (scan delay, concurrency)
• Cached scan results from the most recent scan

This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time via the extension popup ("Reset Defaults" or "Clear All").

Network Requests

The extension makes requests directly from your browser to hotel booking websites using your existing browser session. These requests are identical to those the website itself makes when you browse it manually.

• Hotel booking websites — to query rate availability using each site's own API. These requests use your existing session cookies already present in your browser from normal browsing.
• nominatim.openstreetmap.org — to convert destination names into geographic coordinates when needed. Only the destination name is sent; no personal data is included.

No other third-party services are contacted. No data is sent to any server operated by the extension developer.

Permissions Explained

• storage — saves your rate codes and settings locally in the browser.
• webRequest — observes the hotel website's own requests to capture search parameters (such as coordinates and hotel lists) so the extension can perform rate comparisons in the same search context.
• declarativeNetRequest — ensures correct request headers are sent on cross-origin requests between related booking domains.
• Host permissions — allows the extension to run on supported hotel booking websites and fetch rate data using your authenticated session.

Corporate Rate Codes

The extension comes pre-loaded with a list of commonly known corporate rate codes. Users are responsible for only booking rates they are authorized to use.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be included with the extension update and posted at this URL.
